Blogability by Janis

Looking on Dictionary.com, I see blog, blogger, and blogging, but not a thing about blogability.  I think it is time for a new word.

Blogability is a perfect word that needs no definition, as long as you are familiar with the word blog.

However, though the objective definition is clear, the subjective interpretation of that definition is not.

I cannot speak for other bloggers, mainly because I don’t read very many of them.  But I can speak for myself.

(Side note—just now, when attempting to type “But,” I first typed “Burt,” which reminds me that my younger brother Bob used to call me “Dennis” because he couldn’t pronounce “Janis.”  Mom told that story during his most recent visit, and the more I think about it, the more it rings true.  Those were the days of the Lassie TV show, which went through several incarnations in Bob’s pronunciation:  Yassie, then Wassie, and, finally, Lassie.  I hope you will forgive me, Bob, for this little rabbit trail of word association.)

So, speaking for myself—let’s see, what was the topic again—let me enlighten you on my new term, blogability.

Blogability refers to anything about which I write intended for a general audience.  No, wait.  Blogability refers to anything I write that I actually post.  To post or not to post is the question that plagues me in my better moments.  You see, I write; therefore I am,  so I write; therefore I post.  It is a fairly simple relationship most of the time. . .

Except for the times it is not simple.  It may come as a surprise to you that sometimes I write things too personal to post.  The lesser surprise is that sometimes I write things too_______________  (fill in the blank with your word of choice) to post.  And sometimes I don’t write anything postable (another new word according to my spellchecker!) for several days in a row.  Now, I’d better clarify.  Corny poetry is always postable, as is occasional serious poetry.  First drafts or rough drafts are as postable as carefully revised and edited drafts.  Inspirational writings and writings about slugs seem to be equally postable as well.

Okay, I’m wandering a bit.  I am supposed to be writing about blogability because the idea popped into my head not too many minutes ago.  But now it is suddenly 8:30 in the morning, and I need to get ready to take Mom in for her check up, and I do not have any sort of clever ending to my first draft post on blogability.  But I think I will post it anyway.
