Today’s focus was distance rather
than sightseeing because after Multnomah Falls (breathtaking!) and the Columbia
River Gorge (spectacular!), there really wasn’t anything to stop for since the
national historic sites and parks remain closed due to the government shutdown. Flat scrub land followed by hilly scrub land
followed by low mountain scrub land pretty much sums up six hours of driving.
But we did land in Boise for the
night at a Hampton Inn. After a
delicious dinner at Applebee’s here I am, blogging, and almost falling asleep
despite the early hour. Today, besides
crossing the 45th parallel, we crossed over into the Mountain Time
Zone.
The poster of Multnomah Falls that I
purchased at the gift shop there along with the placemat of a beach on the
Oregon Coast will serve as lovely reminders of the first three days of travel
from Whidbey Island to Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
I think we’re close to mile 1,000 now.
